About Us

Chengdong · Warp-Drive Star Architecture works at the frontier of deep-space habitats, polar and extreme-environment architecture, spaceport support infrastructure, and 3D digital additive construction. We bring together aerospace, advanced physical materials, mechanical engineering, and digital architecture, with operations across Shanghai, the UK, and the USA. Driven by the science-fiction spirit of interstellar exploration, we are building an integrated R&D-to-delivery platform for specialised construction suited to extraterrestrial bodies and Earth’s most extreme conditions.

Core Requirements · Shared Foundation

Every team member must carry the science-fiction spirit of interstellar exploration, dare to push beyond conventional architectural boundaries, and be willing to drive breakthroughs in space habitation and future extreme-environment construction. UK/US study-abroad backgrounds are preferred. Candidates must hold a valid long-term UK/US visa and be able to work across Shanghai, the UK, and the USA with frequent international travel.

I. RIBA Chartered Architect (certified by the Royal Institute of British Architects)

Responsibilities

  1. Take full ownership of UK-region spaceport bases, interstellar simulation modules, and polar modular future-architecture schemes — from design and construction-drawing production to full-lifecycle delivery control — liaising with UK local code review, approvals, and construction partners
  2. Coordinate cross-border China–UK projects, benchmarking against ESA (European Space Agency) construction standards while balancing structural mechanics, lightweighting, and low-carbon durability
  3. Co-develop, with the materials and aerospace-engineering teams, parametric 3D-printed shells, minimally invasive thin-cavity retrofits of heritage townhouses, and sealed deep-space habitat systems
  4. Build overseas academic and industry partnerships, implement the RIBA-standard technical system, and lead the R&D of future, science-fiction-oriented specialised architecture projects

Requirements

  1. Full RIBA Chartered qualification (Parts 1/2/3 complete); ARB-registered architect
  2. UK architecture master’s/doctorate returnee with hands-on UK project experience; holds a long-term UK visa and can move flexibly between Shanghai and the UK
  3. 3+ years’ experience in specialised engineering, spaceport support, or large-scale modular building design; proficient with BIM and parametric modelling tools
  4. Comfortable with frequent China–UK cross-border travel; well-versed in Chinese and UK building regulations, overseas tendering, and end-to-end project management
  5. Mastery of digital additive construction and structural mechanics; skilled at cross-disciplinary collaboration across aerospace and materials; brings a science-fiction design mindset for interstellar architecture and future space

II. AIA Registered Architect (certified by the American Institute of Architects)

Responsibilities

  1. Lead the full-process design and general-contracting management of US-region spaceport support bases, Mars-surface simulation habitats, and future science-fiction industrial parks
  2. Strictly follow NAAB and ARE US architectural-practice standards, delivering end-to-end control of permitting, plan review, and on-site supervision
  3. Liaise with US aerospace partners to deliver digital interstellar-construction solutions compliant with NASA engineering standards
  4. Coordinate the China–US R&D teams to implement solid-waste 3D-printed building materials, lightweight Star-Core capsules, and extraterrestrial habitation architecture

Requirements

  1. Holds a US state architect licence, NCARB certificate, and full AIA membership; completed AXP experience and the full ARE examination
  2. US architecture master’s/doctorate returnee with a track record of US project delivery; holds a valid US visa and supports on-site work in both China and the USA
  3. Proficient in Revit-based forward digital design; experience with aerospace facilities, industrial specialised buildings, or modular construction preferred
  4. Fluent business English; able to independently handle overseas tendering and cross-border engineering risk control
  5. Embraces the science-fiction pioneering ethos; able to break free from conventional civil-architecture thinking to design habitation structures for extreme extraterrestrial environments

III. Multidisciplinary R&D Positions

1. Aerospace Engineering

Disciplines: aeronautics & astronautics, vehicle design, space-environment engineering

Capabilities: familiarity with sealed deep-space capsules, microgravity-adapted structures, and load support for extraterrestrial habitats; a science-fiction innovation mindset for fusing interstellar vehicles with ground architecture.

2. Physics & Advanced Materials

Disciplines: condensed-matter physics, composite materials, solid-waste modification, materials resistant to extreme temperature variation

Capabilities: developing space-grade 3D-printed building consumables, ultra-high-strength lightweight shells, and radiation- and thermal-shock-resistant protective materials; willing to experiment with frontier composite materials to support science-fiction-grade star-architecture structures.

3. Mechanical Engineering & Construction Equipment

Disciplines: mechanical design, intelligent manufacturing, additive-manufacturing equipment development

Capabilities: developing space/polar dedicated 3D-printing construction rigs, modular intelligent lifting equipment, and unmanned construction machinery; innovating equipment design for unmanned extraterrestrial construction scenarios.

4. Architecture + Digital (Hybrid)

Disciplines: architectural digital technology, parametric design, BIM, AI architectural algorithms

Capabilities: building an integrated cross-disciplinary digital-simulation platform for high-precision modelling, structural simulation, and condition modelling of interstellar architecture; turning science-fiction concepts into engineered reality through digital means.

General Requirements (all positions)

  1. Education: UK/US bachelor’s degree or above; master’s/doctorate returnees preferred
  2. Mobility: holds a long-term valid UK/US visa and can support routine flying across the three locations
  3. Mindset: a strong science-fiction spirit of interstellar exploration; not bound by traditional industry frameworks; eager to develop future extreme-environment construction technology
  4. Collaboration: cross-disciplinary thinking; able to work smoothly with teams across different specialisms on joint challenges
  5. Bonus: research experience with SpaceX or ESA; patents or academic papers; overseas diaspora resources or RIBA/AIA industry networks

Working Model & Benefits

  1. Flexible cross-border work: Shanghai HQ is the core R&D base, with project outposts in the UK and USA; on-site rotations are assigned as needed
  2. Comprehensive support: full reimbursement of international travel, dedicated overseas-posting allowances, premium commercial insurance, independent research funding, and equity incentives for core staff
  3. Top-tier platform & resources: deep collaboration with the University of Manchester School of Architecture, international aerospace partnership projects, and Shanghai’s flagship heritage-building renewal programmes

Application Materials (all required)

  1. A complete bilingual (Chinese & English) résumé
  2. A professional portfolio (for architecture roles, foreground interstellar / future / extreme-environment work; for technical roles, include drawings and reports of experiments, equipment, and materials R&D)
  3. A personal statement: briefly describe your science-fiction pioneering philosophy, your professional strengths, your fit for cross-border work, and your vision for the star-architecture field
